Marine Cargo
The transit of goods by rail, road, sea, and air involves a wide range of unique risks. An effective risk management strategy is therefore essential to mitigate potential exposures before they escalate into serious financial or reputational challenges. The transportation of specialized commodities such as pharmaceuticals, food products and perishables, coal, and project cargo demands deep industry knowledge and specialized expertise.
Our dedicated cargo insurance team is well equipped to manage the complexities of domestic and international transit risks. With the right blend of experience, technical expertise, and strong transactional capabilities, we deliver a comprehensive suite of cargo insurance solutions that distinguish us from our competitors.
Our Areas of Specialization
General Cargo
We service a diverse range of clients with varied cargo portfolios on both direct and reinsurance bases. Our experience spans multiple industries, with particular strengths in pharmaceuticals and life sciences, chemicals, engineering goods, and FMCG products.
Bulk Cargo
Securisk Insurance Broking Pvt. Ltd. specializes in structuring marine insurance solutions for bulk commodities such as coal and edible oils. These policies are designed to address unforeseen risks while ensuring optimal cost efficiency.
Project Cargo
We facilitate project cargo insurance to protect high-value machinery and equipment during transit to project sites. Coverage can also be extended to include Delay in Start-Up (DSU) arising from marine perils.
Delay in Start-Up (DSU)
For new projects involving imported or indigenous equipment, any transit-related loss or damage may result in reordering equipment—leading to project delays, deferred production commencement, and loss of profits. We arrange Delay in Start-Up (DSU) insurance to safeguard clients against such consequential losses.
Types of Marine Insurance Policies
Marine Specific Policy
Issued for a specific voyage, this policy covers cargo in transit from one location to another worldwide, by any mode of transport. Coverage includes risks such as fire, lightning, collision, sinking, derailment, and loss during air or ocean freight. Optional extensions for war, strikes, riots, and civil commotion are available for overseas transits.
Marine Open Policy
An annual policy issued based on estimated transit values, covering cargo movement globally by sea, rail, road, and air. It protects against direct physical loss or damage, including risks such as fire, lightning, vessel sinking, derailment, and more.
Additional covers may include loss of packages overboard, losses during loading and unloading, non-delivery due to hijacking, or mysterious disappearance.
Marine Sales Turnover Policy
A highly flexible and customizable solution, this policy covers all transits undertaken to achieve sales objectives. Issued annually, the premium is based on sales turnover, covering sales, purchases, and stock transfers under a single policy.
Stock Throughput Policy
A single, integrated policy replacing multiple marine and property covers, providing end-to-end protection from raw material procurement to finished goods delivery. In addition to transit risks, it also covers storage risks at all declared warehouses. Premiums are charged on sales turnover, offering seamless and cost-effective coverage.
